Peavey Wolfgang Reference Page
The Peavey Wolfgang was the evolution
of Edward's guitar lineup after leaving a very successful run at Ernie
Ball. Rumors have circulated as to why Edward left Ernie Ball, but in
the end Peavey was able to develop a considerably equal (and sometimes
better) instrument to the Musicman he endorsed. It was said that EB
could not keep up with the amount of demand in the marketplace and Edward
wanted to go with a company who could produce more instruments but maintain
the same level of quality. I find that hard to believe since Ernie Ball
has an ample production facility but at the time that was what was being
said. However, Peavey pulled off something pretty magical and improved
upon a signature instrument that many thought could not be improved
upon. A special callout to Jim DeCola who worked for Peavey and with
Edward on the invention of this fine instrument.
This
page is intended to help people indentify models based on visual features
and other characteristics which is interesting since VK was created
primarily to help people not get "wronged" when buying Kramers.
Funny how things come full circle. Disclaimer: This page is for reference
only, Edward Van Halen has no existing relationship with Peavey, Vintage
Kramer at the time of this writing, this page is not for profit or monetary
gain, it is being produced ONLY to help persons identify Peavey Wolfgangs
or related merchandise.

Important
note: Most Peavey models were sourced in the USA. The only line that
was not sourced in the USA were the Korean models as defined below.
That makes the USA instruments pretty special since they were competitively
priced at the time and have held up rather well considering how long
its been since they were made.
